Videos Highlight the “Sounds of The City” Featuring 27 Local Businesses, Artists, More

AUSTIN, TX—  Visit Austin has released a new leisure destination marketing video, along with a meetings marketing video, to promote the destination in a new and creative way. The videos, which highlight the “sounds of the city,” feature more than 27 local businesses, artists and more.

Visit Austin will use these new videos, along with 10 district videos still in production, to market the city to leisure and meetings travelers through a variety of different outlets including social media, digital advertising, broadcast, industry tradeshows and more. Both the leisure and meetings marketing videos can be viewed on Visit Austin’s YouTube channel.

Working with Austin-based creative agency, Arts+Labor, the Visit Austin team selected a thematic concept which highlights the “sounds of the city.” The idea being that when visitors experience the Live Music Capital of the World, it is like listening to the world’s best music mashup. The food, the spaces, the culture–it all comes together to form the song of our city. The 27 local businesses and musicians featured in the video are:

Along with the leisure and meetings videos, the Visit Austin and Arts+Labor teams are also working on 10 district videos, highlighting not just the districts near downtown, but East Austin, West Austin, Domain/North, Central Austin and South Austin, which will all be incorporated into a new campaign launching later this year.

“Arts+Labor has been a part of Austin’s creative community for over 15 years. We’re passionate about championing the people, values, and institutions that make our city so special,” said Cody Ground, Arts+Labor Creative Director. “We were thrilled to partner with Visit Austin to shine a light on our city in a fresh new way. From nightlife to nature and award-winning dining to honky-tonks, Austin is one of the most dynamic cities in the world. We tried to capture this eclecticism through a stylistically diverse mashup of local musicians and the sounds of Austin's most iconic places. Visually, we used a mix of digital and film footage to blend the nostalgic and the now. All of this forms the rhythm and soul of our city - the sound of Austin.”

“This project was a great opportunity to highlight Austin’s live music, local businesses and unique districts around the city. We look forward to seeing all of these videos out in the market,” said Tom Noonan, Visit Austin President & CEO. “Working with the Arts+Labor team throughout the entire process was amazing, not only given their creative expertise, but passion and pride for Austin, as well.”
