EMPLOYMENT TOOLS

When looking for cast and crew calls from productions filming locally or searching out work at one of the many brick and mortar media production companies in the region, the following resources are key in providing the latest and greatest job postings.

TEXAS FILM COMMISSION JOB HOTLINE
The Texas Film Commission Job Hotline has the most comprehensive listing industry jobs throughout the state—this is the best resource for production work postings in Austin and other Texas cities. Updated often, the Job Hotline lists film, television and commercial productions that are currently hiring cast and crew. Additionally, brick and mortar media production companies looking to fill positions in the region and film festivals staffing up also post jobs on the Job Hotline. It is also a great place to post opportunities if you are crewing up as it's checked by industry professionals regularly.

BACKSTAGE
Since 1960, Backstage has served as the #1 resource for actors and performers to find high-quality roles to match their interests and career goals. Backstages site has up-to-date casting calls for talent in the Austin-area. Through the Backstage site, actors and actresses can search out the rolls productions are currently casting and submit video auditions.

IATSE
Texas is a right to work state but a great deal of productions like the major features and television series tend to work through the local IATSE union when hiring specialized below the line positions. Most studios have agreements in place with IATSE to place members in their roster on shows. If you are a IATSE Local 484 member looking for work, check in with the Business Manager to see which shows are currently hiring.

AUSTIN FILM COMMISSION PRODUCTION DIRECTORY
We welcome all local crew and vendors to list in the Austin Film Commission Production Directory. It is a free, user generated, searchable online directory. All that we ask is that registrants have a credit in any category they list in and an address in the Austin metroplex. Many productions will use the directory when they are looking for local crew or vendors.

LOCAL CASTING DIRECTORS
There are a number of local casting directors listed in both the Austin Film Commission's Production Directory and the Texas Film Commission's Production Directory. If it's being cast locally, these professionals are usually the ones looking for talent for everything from commercials to television and features. Many have included links in their entries to their social media accounts, which will have all the very latest casting calls they are working on for projects of all types and sizes. It also never hurts to reach out if you are an actor or actress to see if they might have any roles they are currently auditioning or to get on their radar for potential work in the future.

INTERNSHIPS
There are a handful of phenomenal internships available to students at a number of local film organizations—many of which have garnered great experience and led to potential production work for past participants.
