Time has no meaning at these spots. Whether you've gotten up exceptionally early, studied way too late, or the bars have just kicked you out, Austin's true around-the-clock, locally owned restaurants and coffee shops have you covered. Skip the drive-thru chains — these are the local places that never lock the door.
Bennu Coffee
Bennu Coffee's locations keep the caffeine flowing all night, every night. It's a community-driven coffee house — a welcoming bunch with provisions and outstanding coffee. Bennu works with other local businesses to have prepared foods on hand (pizza, sandwiches, pastries, gluten-free, and vegan options) for when you're feeling peckish. The MLK location is especially great if you're working late night, since it's equipped with plugs at every table.
The Buzz Mill
The Buzz Mill has a lumberjack-meets-good-coffee vibe, and it's open 24 hours, every day. Its infused liquors, craft brews, and ciders are served until 2 am, at which point you may want to switch back to coffee. On-site food trucks close earlier in the evening, so plan your food run before then if you're settling in for a long night. What's nice about this spot is it also hosts a ton of events, so you can come for the comedy, the craft market, or the tunes and stay until the break of dawn.
Las Cazuelas
For those in the know, Austin’s east side flocks to Las Cazuelas, a hole-in-the-wall joint with Selena on the jukebox and micheladas the size of your head. Thursday through Sunday, they run the full menu deep into the early morning hours (closing between 3 and 5:30 am those nights, depending on the day) — the rest of the week they close around 2 am and reopen at 6 or 7 am. House specialties include huge parrilladas, alambres, and Tex-Mex standards like burritos, nachos, and enchiladas swimming in ranchera, mole, or suiza sauces.
Tyson's Tacos
We’re a city that is obsessed with tacos, and so it stands to reason that you can find many of them at all hours. Tyson’s Tacos, run by husband-and-wife team Tyson and Cherry Blankemeyer, is open 24/7 and totally Austin. Take a seat on the turquoise patio with succulents tucked into Topo Chico bottles, admire the latest mural, and take a peek in the golden bathroom. The queso here is a little different — white cheese with rajas instead of the usual liquid gold — and the creatively named tacos hit the spot, including the Bond Girl, the Princess Leia, and the Yoda.
24 Diner
A North Lamar institution from chef Andrew Curren, 24 Diner earned its name honestly — and earned it back. After years of reduced hours, it returned to true 24-hour service in February 2025, running continuously from Wednesday morning through Saturday night, plus long daytime hours (7 am–11 pm) the rest of the week. Come for the chicken and waffles, stay for the hash and the hand-spun milkshakes. It's chef-driven comfort food with a full bar, so it works just as well for a 2 am nightcap as it does for Sunday brunch.
Magnolia Cafe
An Austin classic since 1979, Magnolia Cafe is open 24 hours Thursday through Sunday, and until midnight the rest of the week. It's the kind of place that feels like your favorite aunt's kitchen — if she made monster omelets, migas, and the famous "Mag Mud" queso (black beans, avocado, and pico de gallo) at 3 am. A true post-show, post-bar, or post-anything refuge on South Congress.
