Mexic-Arte Museum is thrilled to announce its 35th annual Viva La Vida Festival and Parade will take place on October 27, 2018 in downtown Austin! Viva La Vida is Austin’s largest and longest-running Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) festival, and one of the few in the country with a parade. With over 10,000 attendees in 2017, we envision the 2018 festival to be our largest and most popular Viva La Vida yet! The festival features a Grand Procession, the Education Pavilion with hands-on art activities and artist demos, and a celebration with traditional foods, local artist and retail booths, a low-rider exhibition, live music and performances throughout the day. The parade will gather on 6th street between I-35 Southbound Frontage Road and Red River street, and travel west on 6th street to the festival location at 4th and Congress.
Stay tuned in the following months as we continue to announce related programming and other ways you can participate in this iconic event!
