The Elisabet Ney Museum is the historic Austin studio of European-born portrait sculptor and women’s rights activist Elisabet Ney (1833-1907). The museum features her own work—large scale classical style portraits of 19th-century European intellectuals, statesmen and royalty as well as Texas heroes—and exhibitions of contemporary art, largely by Texas women, both in the grounds and inside the building. Part of the 2.5 acre grounds feature a historic prairie recreation. Historic Waller Creek runs through the site.

The former studio was designed by Elisabet Ney. It’s also listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is a contributing structure to the Hyde Park National Register Historic District, and is a member of Historic Artists Homes and Studios, a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
