About
Rosewood Neighborhood Park was opened as Austin’s first public park for the African American community during the Jim Crow era and remains an important social and cultural hub for East Austin to this day. The city’s annual Juneteenth celebration has been held here since 1930. A must see is the log cabin home of Henry Green Madison—who became Austin’s first Black City Council member in the 1870s. The park also features a swimming pool, splash pad, and multi-sport field.
