"Miriam “Ma” Ferguson, the first female Governess of the State of Texas, built what would be her longest-tenured and final home here atop the hill on the corner of Windsor and Enfield Road in 1927. Recently Restored, the Governors Mansion is now open for the public and private events. This elegant Home has lots of entertaining space and plenty of room for all occasion. Whether it's a corporate gathering or a place to stay during the SXSW, we can accommodate. The Governor's Mansion has that original Historic feel with a modern twist ready to provide you with the best experience Texas' premier historic home has been the official residence of Texas governors since 1856. Free guided tours of the Texas Governor's Mansion are available Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, and select Saturdays. Tours last 20 minutes and are subject to availability. Reservations must be made at least one week in advance and no walk up tours are available. To schedule a tour, visitors can contact the Mansion Reservationist.
