COTA PUTS ENTERTAINMENT INTO OVERDRIVE
Austin's premier motorsports facility features superstar performers, year-round events, a new soccer team, plus lots more.
Austin’s Circuit of The Americas (COTA) is known as the premier destination for world-class motorsports in the United States. But it's also gained a reputation as one of the city's leading entertainment hubs, hosting big-name music performers and exciting events year round. And coming in 2019, COTA will be home to the Austin Bold FC, a brand new USL soccer team playing in a newly constructed stadium in the center of the Circuit.
Grand Prix Facility
COTA is the only purpose-built Grand Prix facility in the U.S., set on 1,500 acres just outside downtown Austin. At the heart of it all is a 3.4-mile track that was designed to host top racing competitors from around the world. The 20-turn Circuit takes advantage of the rolling landscape, featuring an intimidating 133-foot hill at Turn 1 that has to be seen to be believed.
COTA is home to the only Formula 1 and MotoGP races in the country: the Pirelli United States Grand Prix and the Red Bull Grand Prix of The Americas. COTA also plays host to the esteemed homegrown series Americas Rallycross and Blancpain GT World Challenge America. And in March 2019, INDYCAR will roll into Austin for the first time ever for a weekend of racing capped off with a spectacular headlining performance by MUSE.
If you're looking to get in on some racing action yourself, COTA offers three breathtaking driving experiences. With the Audi Driving Experience, get behind the wheel of a fleet of Audi models, including the R8 V10 Plus, for an exhilarating half- or full-day course. A team of professional instructors guides the way, whether you want to throw the TT RS into a slide on a low-friction skid pad, or compete for the top lap time in the RS 3. And if open-wheel racing is more your style, don't miss Formula Americas. During this thrilling 90-minute program, you'll suit up like a pro and lap the full 3.4-mile Grand Prix circuit in a powerful racing machine you won't find anywhere else. Teens and adults love COTA Karting, where they can race around a purpose-built karting track at speeds up to 55mph and dream of becoming future F1 stars.
And if soccer is your sport, you're in luck. In March 2019, catch professional United Soccer League action in the heart of COTA's Grand Plaza when Austin Bold FC makes its highly anticipated debut. The team will play in a brand new 5,000-seat stadium designed around COTA's immaculate soccer pitch.
Celebrate the holidays throughout December at COTA, where a million lights illuminate the magical Winter Wonderland. There's lots of family fun, including the Chinese Lantern Festival, the largest outdoor ice skating rink in Texas, carnival rides, a petting zoo, music, camel rides, food trucks, and even a chance to take a photo with St. Nick himself.
Cars & Coffee
The monthly Cars & Coffee Austin is a pop-up car show for the whole family. This free event includes access to the Velocity Lounge, where there's food, drinks and a great view of the cars on display.
COTA rounds out its entertainment experience with the Austin360 Amphitheater, the largest permanent outdoor amphitheater in Central Texas, known for its signature 25-story observation tower. This unique venue has hosted some of the biggest names in music and entertainment, from Austin icon Willie Nelson and hip-hop chart-topper Drake, to rock gods the Foo Fighters, pop princess Gwen Stefani, plus many more.
