Manteca Beat Allstars: Feeding The Flame, Passing The Torch
Paul Klemperer & Manteca Beat perform two special concerts on April 12, and May 25, 2024. Funded in part by the City of Austin’s Live Music Fund, these concerts will feature an expanded lineup to include up-and-coming younger musicians, the Manteca Beat Allstars. Working within Texas and Gulf Coast musical traditions, including jazz, blues, R&B and Latin styles, the band drew on these influences to compose original works. In addition they created their own arrangements of classic songs which are part of Austin’s unique musical heritage.
The result is not just an exciting musical program, but an invitation for music students and supporters of Austin live music to engage with this project, as part of our ongoing work to build and strengthen our music community.
The first performance will be at the Asian American Resource Center, April 12, 6:00-9:00pm. The second performance will be at Kenny Dorham’s Back Yard, in the East Austin Historical District, May 25, 6:00-9:00pm.
