Face Coverings & Social Distancing

Austin’s community COVID-19 level is currently low. Masking is optional. Find the most up-to-date information here.

Austin Public Health (APH) has published color-coded charts for vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals to help residents and visitors understand the stages of risk and provide recommendations on face coverings, social distancing and other safety recommendations. You can also view color blind-friendly charts here. Many businesses continue to require the use of face masks for staff and guests and may limit capacity or implement additional safety protocols at their own discretion. Learn More

Hotels & Lodging

Austin hotels, restaurants, bars and other alcoholic beverage service outlets can operate at 100 percent capacity. Note: some hotels may continue to require the use of face masks for staff and/or guests and may limit capacity or implement additional safety protocols at their own discretion.

Many individual hotels and hotel chains have sharied their safety plans to help address concerns as well.

Austin Convention Center & Palmer Events Center

The Austin Convention Center and Palmer Events Center are open and continue to adhere to City of Austin, Travis County, State of Texas and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations.

On March 23, 2022, the City of Austin lifted the Be Safe at City Facilities order. Masking in most City of Austin facilities is now optional. Optional mask-wearing includes the Austin Convention Center, the Palmer Events Center, and staff members of the Austin Convention Center Department (ACCD).
