Austin Sports Commission- Account Director

The Austin Sports Commission is seeking an experienced Account Director to promote Austin as a premiere sports event and competition destination.

This motivated sales professional will be responsible for numerous tasks including: prospecting for new business through telephone solicitation, meeting and exceeding expected hotel room night goals set forth by leadership, networking through local and national organizations, as well as regularly-scheduling outside sales calls and client development.

Other responsibilities include: maintaining a strong working relationship with peers in the hotel community, operators at sporting venues, staff at the Convention Center, Palmer Events Center and other large venues, as well as providing detailed feedback and status reports as appropriate on any group/meeting currently considering their facility.

This position will also disseminate client needs or group requirements through sending clear and concise leads to the hospitality community; and input all account information into the sales automation system.

Minimum requirements include: 3 years sales experience; citywide bids/presentations; strong prospecting skills; ability to manage logistics of special events; excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills, as well as a good working knowledge of computers (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, databases, etc.). Must be team-oriented and comfortable multi-tasking in a fast paced environment. Experience in operations of sporting events preferred.

Whether you're new to the area and want to learn more about Austin or a long-time resident with plenty of wisdom to share, volunteering at the Visitor Center is a great way to promote our wonderful city while meeting new people and having fun.
